Youth Sailing Club

RWYC Youth Sailing Club is intended for children aged 8 to 16 year old and no previous experience is necessary.

They should however, be confident in the water!

Training is from RYA approved Instructors but this is not a course, it is about building confidence on the water and having fun:

If your child has an RYA logbook they are welcome to bring it with them, if the instructors can sign anything of for them during the blocks they will happily.

  • Safety on and off the water
  • Theory of sailing
  • Fun
  • Roles of the helm and the crew
  • How to rig and launch a dinghy
  • Setting off and returning to a jetty
  • Fun
  • Capsize practice
  • Sailing single and double handed
  • Training-based games and physical fitness activities
  • Paddle boarding
  • Lots of fun to be had by all levels

We provide buoyancy aids, and your child is much better wearing a wet suit.

A light wind proof  jacket or spray top is also useful to keep warm.

The water in the early part of the year is at its coldest.

Appropriate footwear is needed to wear on the water, and bring a towel.

Please apply promptly to book a place for your child, as places (and boats) are limited.  The Club has 6 RS Teras, 6 Laser Picos, 3 RS Fevas, 12 Paddleboards
