PHANTOM OPEN MEETING

SATURDAY/SUNDAY – 14th & 15th JULY 2018

 

NOTICE OF RACE

1          RULES

1.1       The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

1.2       Racing rule 40 will be changed – Use of personal flotation devices.

 

2          ADVERTISING

Advertising will be restricted to Category A

 

3          ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1       The regatta is open to boats of the PHANTOM class.

3.2       Helmsmen shall be current members of their Class Associations.

3.3       Eligible boats may enter  by completing the Entry Form and return the forms to the RWYC before Wednesday 11th July 2018. Entry Forms can be downloaded from on the club website www.royal-windermere.co.uk.

 

4          FEES

             The entry fee is £20

 

5          SCHEDULE

5.1       Registration will be from 09:30hrs, the scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is 11:55hrs.

 

7          MEASUREMENTS

             Each boat shall possess a valid measurement certificate. Only certified sails may be used.

 

8          SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The sailing instructions will be available after 09.00 hrs at the Race Office at Royal Windermere YC.

 

9          VENUE

The Royal Windermere Yacht Club, Fallbarrow Road, Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria, LA23 3DJ. Tel 01539 443106.

10        THE COURSES

             The courses to be sailed will be described in the Sailing Instructions.

 

11        PENALTY SYSTEM

The penalties are: As detailed in RRS 44 except that there shall be no Scoring Penalties.

 

12        SCORING

10.1     The Low Point System of Appendix A will apply.

10.2     1 race is required to be completed to constitute a series.

10.3     When 2 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

 

13        BERTHING

Boats shall be kept in their assigned places in the boat park.

 

14        RADIO COMMUNICATION

A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

 

15        PRIZES

Prizes will be given as follows: Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the leading boat in the Meeting and to a number of other boats at the discretion of the organisers.

 

16        DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

 

17        INSURANCE

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £3 million per event or the equivalent.
