February 2023 Commodore’s Newsletter
Dear Members,
Wishing you all the best. Many Members will not have been to the Club since the Autumn of 2022, or even earlier. January 2023 seems to have passed very quickly and with February upon us, it is noticeable how much lighter the evenings are. The water in Lake Windermere seems to have been very high for most of January. Our thanks to Richard and Zoe Broughton for keeping an eye on boats and moving things around.
2023 Membership Subscription Invoices:
The Membership Year runs from 1st April 2023 to 31st March 2024. Invoices for 2023, due
1st April, should be with you end of February/early March 2023. If you are aware of any changes to your Membership, or, Boat Details, please could you update your details on the Club’s System, as soon as possible. Your Invoices are raised on the information that we hold for you. If the information is incorrect, your Invoice may well be incorrect. You were asked in the January 2023 Newsletter, to fill in your Boat and Registration Form, which is on the Website. Unless this form is filled in, you may not be allocated the Boat Park/Storage you require. All boats must have a sticker to confirm your space allocation. Without this sticker, your boat may be removed from the Boat Park. This also applies to Storage Racks.
Access to RWYC Clubhouse:
Members should be aware it is open seven days a week, even in Winter. If the Bar is shut, access is gained by using your Gate Card. If you wish to have a coffee, remember to bring your debit or credit card as the new machine does not accept cash.
For all Social Events, please book in with Zoe and support them.
You will be able to find them on the Website and/or on the Noticeboard, inside the Clubhouse.
The Sunday Carveries and Friday Evenings are great ways to get together and, if you are new Members, you will always be welcome. Friday nights’ are a good time to meet Class Captains’ and Commodores’ who are generally down at the Club. A delightful carvery was enjoyed by everybody who attended on Sunday, 29th January 2023.
Social Events are booking up quickly and these are to be held as follows:

R.N.L.I. Event:
On Friday, 27th January 2023, for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, (R.N.L.I.), the Royal Windermere Yacht Club hosted a “Sip Our Soup” Lunch. This was very well attended. Many thanks to Zoe and all those who sold tickets and helped on the day. After expenses, £568 was raised for this important charity.
