Christmas and New Year Events update 21st December

Dear Members,

Your Covid Committee met last night, with the Commodore and Vice Commodore present to discuss the Omicron situation and in particular, how that might affect the Boxing Day and New Years Eve functions.

You will have heard the PM on Monday indicating that he is not introducing any further restrictions yet, but that prospect seems to be gathering momentum, listening to the mood music.

As a result, we have decided to proceed with the Boxing Day Carvery, which has limited numbers.

New Years Eve has however suffered from a large number of cancellations, to such an extent that it is not commercially viable for the Club. Entertainment had been booked and in normal times this would have been a fantastic evening. We have therefore decided not to proceed, but with a view to hopefully rolling it over to March, before the start of the sailing season, when we will all be like coiled springs,  and raring to go.

As far as other upcoming events are concerned, it is possible that further restrictions could be implemented by the Govenrment.. With this in mind, the Covid group will meet again next Monday, 27th December, to review any changes which may effect the operation of your club, into the New Year.
In the meantime, if you are coming to the Club please remember to wear a face mask in the lobby and when not seated and, as a courtesy to others, please consider taking a lateral flow test before you visit.

Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas.

The Commodore, Chris and David
