Summer surprised us,…

(Coming over the Starnbergersee…….)

Thursday 31st May,.………. good day-bad day,……. Good day,…sold a boat,… Bad day,…. NO WIND…

Tuesday 29th May.………… bad day-good day,………bad day,..couldn’t sail……..good day,. band practice and a boat viewing

Monday 28th May ……….. good day-bad day………. good day,.. more manageable winds…….. bad day,…Bank Holiday Monday,… the world and his wife and family were out on the water  and what is more,..!.. beaten in the last 200m by Richard T. who was sailing Nigel r’s Solo,….

Sunday 27th May,.……. bad day-good day,…….. bad day,….. so windy gusty beasterly easterly that I couldn’t keep the boat upright in the boat park, let alone on the water,………….good day,….. took a RIB out and was able to rescue John P. whose rudder blade had parted company with itself leaving him and his remarkably cheerful first time crew wallowing about in the rollers and breakers and Bank Holiday traffic,…Robert, JR, Gavin B and Richard B. tore round,..with attrition at the other end of the fleet ….

good day in the morning;… in much more manageable wind, in a RIB, I followed K & K in their GP and Nigel r., bellowing instructions,…

Saturday 26th May,.… bad day-bad day,……….. Adult Squad,…very wind, but..!…the Bahia has a reefing system so,.. nothing ventured,.. nothing gained and the reef was taken in,.. a brand new burgee was fitted, by Graham, to the head of the mast and off we set,.. that is Emma and me,… the Youths had been towed with all sails furled into the North Lake and to there we would follow,.. the Beasterly easterlies were in full flow and just off the north end of Belle Isle we were flattened,… we got the boat up once but it was just blown over again straight away,.. Amanda came tearing in in Bluebottle, just as I, whilst swimming round the back of the boat, grabbed the rudder blade to haul myself round the stern, only to have the quick release downhaul cleat do it’s job, allowing the blade to slam into my face,… the resulting effect was obviously much worse than any pain I felt, because Amanda became most solicitous and bossy, ordering me into the RIB, asking me if I could still recite my post code, telephone number, date of birth, bank account details and PIN number (she was taking notes),… I got an inkling at this point, as to her reasoning,  as I could see large quantities of blood dripping onto the upturned hull,.. Ian then turned up and proceeded to shoo away a large gathering of spectators, and by attaching lines got the boat upright again,..Emma meanwhile had been gamely swimming about and was also hauled into Bluebottle before being re-united with the Bahia to steer it in back to the Club,… where, my face provoked some sympathy, thank you Zoe, but otherwise much hilarity…!!…  ps.,.. we lost the brand new burgee,!!.. the mast was well and truly stuck in the bottom,..

Thursday 24th May,… second outing for Steve and me in the GP14,.. less chat and higher levels of concentration would help!! Not a particular GP night,.. we, four of us, finished fairly close together, as a group from 9th to 12th,.. with new member Phil gallantly keeping up the rear going solo in his GP,.. The race was won by Robert who went on to clean up the Rear Commodore’s Prize Series on Sunday,.. see above

Monday 21st May,..5.00 pm no wind,.. 5.30pm no wind 5.45 breezefrom the North,.. 6.15 loads of wind from the North,.. Well done Bewsh,.. Club Line start and finish,… FBA S; Rough Holme S; Henholme S;  FBA S; Rough Holme S; Henholme P; Danbouy P; Speedlimit Sign P;  and repeat D and S:…. the danbouy was pitched in just off the steamer piers in just enough water to make it interesting for the Friths in Deva,…………. and finish crossing the start line ,.. it was hard work and various of us peeled off as it was tempting to, so close to the jetties,… sasly not enoughpeople to witness this Bay racing,….

Sunday 20th May,…am.….  Gavin B helped out and shepherded the Andersons and Lisa L out into the South Lake,… I rigged the new boat and took it out (see pm.),…..pm,  .. 2 race afternoon in the South Lake,… now there’s a rarity,.. seems like nothing but easterlies ever since,…… by a miracle,.. and, it has to be admitted, the absence of a few key players, .. I won the first race,..(third in the second),..in the NEW boat!!!,… this called for a celebration back at the club when Barty had worked out the results ….

What with visitors, meetings and trips to Scotland  I missed a lot of May,… but nearer the beginning,…  6th, took the family out in the GP,.. while Gavin B. and Kieth took the Squad and on the 5th took the Bahia out for the first Squad session,… with Emma,.. who came back for more and swimming later,..(see above!).. 3rd,.. got the GP rigged and sailed it in the evening and bought a new(er) Solo ………

Other dinghy news,… Peter Hadron has become Peter Devoti D-One,… Robert is now driving up and down the A6,… crikey!!?… we wish lots of people all the best with Exams,… Windermere School sailing with us on Thursdays is good,…Why are there no RWYC Juniors out in a Feva or two????….

I am away for weeks,… so to keep up to date

Sunday 3rd June,… good day-bad day,… good day,.. got Evie and Ian’s spinnaker rigged to work,.. and did some Racing instruction with K&K and Ian and Evie,… (and thank you Robin for looking in on Saturday,… Where are the Saturday Adult Squad people?…Get in touch..NOW,.. bad day,… NO WIND in the afternoon,…

Monday 4th June,... Excellent Denis Hope race,… 15 boats,.. easterly (again),.. windward/leeward …. really close times mid-fleet,…

Blimey..!!. you only have to blink and a new web-site appears,… excellent,… well done to all concerned…!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
